Scope
- Layout with state-of-the-art layout equipment and total stations
- Foundations
- Concrete columns
- Slabs and elevated decks
- Vertical repetition, level by level, sequenced with the GC schedule
- Clean handoff to the trades that follow
Concrete shell work falls under CSI Division 03 (Concrete). When the job also has Division 05 (Metals) structural steel, Hercon can carry both under one contract.
How a Hercon shell goes up
- Layout. Accurate layout is one of the most essential parts of the work. Hercon sets gridlines and elevations with state-of-the-art layout equipment and total stations, so everything that follows starts in the right place.
- Foundations. Foundations are built once, at the start, and give the shell a true base to build from.
- Columns. Columns are formed and poured on the layout, carrying the structure up to the next level.
- Slabs and elevated decks. Slabs and elevated decks are formed, reinforced and poured. Each completed level becomes the working platform to continue vertically.
- Repeat vertically. Columns and elevated slabs repeat level by level until the shell is complete, leaving it ready for the trades that follow.
Shell and steel under one contract
Many shell contractors only do concrete. Hercon covers the concrete shell and the structural steel, so the general contractor or developer has one less contractor to manage. When a project needs structural steel as well, Hercon erects it too, with fewer handoffs between crews.
